Bangladesh Launches ‘India Out’ Operation, Echoes Maldives’ Controversial Move

Bangladesh India Out Operation: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party Takes a Page from Maldives’ Playbook, Stirring Diplomatic Unease.

Bangladesh India Out Operation

In a surprising turn of events, Bangladesh has embarked on an ‘India Out’ movement, mirroring the controversial campaign undertaken by its neighboring country, Maldives. The Bangladesh National Party (BNP), the largest opposition party in Bangladesh, is spearheading this initiative, marking a concerning trend in the diplomatic relations between India and its neighbors.

The ‘India Out Movement‘ initiated by the BNP draws parallels with the approach taken by Maldives during its recent elections. Maldivian President Mohammad Muju had successfully employed the ‘India Out Operation’ in his election campaign, resulting in the defeat of the pro-India candidate, Ibrahim Mohammad Soli.

The current acting president of BNP, Tariq Rahman, son of BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia, has taken the lead in this movement. The BNP, being an Islamic party, has faced challenges on the international stage, with the United States designating it as a tier three terrorist organization.

In response to this classification, BNP has initiated the ‘India Out’ movement, accusing India of being detrimental to Bangladesh’s interests. BNP workers have taken to social media platforms, raising anti-India slogans and attempting to incite sentiments against the nation.

The campaign has extended its reach to Nepal, as BNP workers seek to leverage social media to spread the anti-India movement beyond Bangladesh’s borders. Allegations from BNP workers include claims that India did not provide assistance during times of need but rather engaged in looting activities.

This drastic shift in the stance of Bangladesh, a country that once received support from India during its struggle for independence, raises important questions about the evolving dynamics in the region. The ‘India Out Movement’ prompts reflection on the changing mentality of Bangladesh’s leadership and its implications for regional stability.

As tensions escalate and criticisms are directed towards India, it remains to be seen how this development will impact the broader geopolitical landscape. The once-friendly relations between India and its neighboring countries now face a challenging period, marked by skepticism and accusations.
